The pumped storage power station (PSPS) is a special power source that has flexible operation modes and multiple functions. With the rapid economic development in China, the energy demand and the peak-valley load difference of the power grid are continuing to increase.
Hence, the independence of manufacturing pumped storage units can be gradually realized in China. If the equipments are capable to be made in China, they should be used as much as possible, which can actively improve the localization of the pumped storage units.
Investment entity There are 18 PHES stations invested by SGCC Xinyuan Corporation, among which 4 stations were wholly invested by Xinyuan Co., while 14 stations were jointly invested by Xinyuan Co. and province power grid companies or local investment corporations.
The result shows the urgency of developing the PSPS in Chinese power systems that have given priority to thermal power, and the energy resources need the wide-range optimal allocation within the system.
