Throughout 2020, energy storage industry development in China displayed five major characteristics: 1. New Integration Trends Appeared The integration of renewable energy with energy storage became a general trend in 2020.

Global energy storage’s record additions in 2023 will be followed by a 27% compound annual growth rate to 2030, with annual additions reaching 110GW/372GWh, or 2.6 times expected 2023 gigawatt installations. Targets and subsidies are translating into project development and power market reforms that favor energy storage.
According to incomplete statistics from CNESA DataLink Global Energy Storage Database, by the end of June 2023, the cumulative installed capacity of electrical energy storage projects commissioned in China was 70.2GW, with a year-on-year increase of 44%.

In 2020, the year-on-year growth rate of energy storage projects was 136%, and electrochemical energy storage system costs reached a new milestone of 1500 RMB/kWh.
